rock lot
The Rock Lot, located at 305 W. 8th St. opened on August 30th, 2017. This was the first Vacant to Vibrant project, to remake vacant lots in West Center City. The space features a grass lawn and outdoor seating and is open to the public every day from dawn until dusk. The Rock Lot is a community space with free weekly programming.
The Lending Library, located at the Rock Lot is an accessible community “bookshelf” for children and youth. The library was relaunched in 2022 with new books centering diverse experiences across race, gender, sexuality and class, and written from the perspectives of Black, Indigenous and other authors of color. Book borrowing is free of charge, and is accessible to neighborhood residents and their children.
